On Sunday, I was looking through the ads and found CVS advertising Sour Patch Bunnies on sale. Sour Patch Kids are my all time favorite candy, so I just had to try these. The Sour Patch Bunnies come in individual sized bags. There are about 36 of these little bags per package. Each bag has about six Sour Patch Bunnies inside.
The Bunnies are about the same size as Sour Patch Kids. The colors are a little more pastel looking. Probably to tie in with Easter being a pastel color holiday. The bunnies are kind of blob looking, though. They do not have much detail, although you can kind of tell the effect they were going for and it definitely is a different look than the regular Sour Patch Kids.
Taste wise they are the same. They just look different and way weirder. It is a fun Easter egg filler for Sour Patch lovers like me, though.

I too was a little disappointed at the lack of detail on the bunnies, most notably around their faces which are lacking features. Personally, I would prefer to see the expression on the bunny's face before I bite into it. Sometimes I like to play games with the sweets too, but this is difficult when you can't tell them apart from one another. I had a nightmare when I forgot who was who in a game of Sour Patch Chess (if you haven't played this before, drop me a line and I will send you the rules). I did however, hear rumours that originally there were plans to incorporate a more complex design into these sweets, but they came under pressure to get them out for the Easter rush.
On to the taste. "Sour, Sweet, Gone!" - this pretty much sums up the Sour Patch experience, in one hard-hitting line. I do feel however, that the term "Sour" is somewhat hyperbolic in this instance as some of the flavours certainly fail to pack that extra punch that other sweets seem to capture so effortlessly (such as Impact Confection's 'Sour Warheads'). So, if you are a first time buyer in the market for a mouth watering, gland aching sweetie, you have been warned; these bunnies are not as sour as they like to think they are. Sweet, maybe. But not Sour.
Overall I would give these sweets a 6/10. You still get the same great flavours of the classic Sour Patch Kids, but with a new, if somewhat bland design. Nonetheless, a valiant effort by the SP team at a special edition Easter product launch.
